Slow Rocks is a series of animations initially exhibited as part of Far Afield’s Touchstones: Deep Time in the Near Future (2018)

Each rock is sculpted as a 3D model with hand drawn textures or created out of moding clay and made to act in unusual ways. In both examples these ‘rocks’ take the geological as a proposition of malleability and movement, using mineral abstractions as a way to invite a closer and more attentive look.
